I'm happy to say that so far about $52 million has been raised. The telethon has just started so they'll be getting more. I'm so proud to be an Aussie as the moment, and proud of all the people who have donated as well as all the CFA people and the other emergency services. Some of CFA people fought the fires trying to say others homes while theirs burnt down.
As far as I'm concerned they all deserve medals.
GO THE VOLUNTEERS ;D

Just wanted to let you know that over $100 million has been raised for the Fire Appeal which has been raised through several ways. Some through the telethon. Nicole Kidman offered to come home to be at the telephon, but they said that is she did a message to be shown during the telephon that they would be grateful. Nicole and hubby Keith did a very heart felt message as well as donating $500 thousand of their own money. Very generous.
Fires are still burning was are better.
I saw some fire guys that had come down from New South Wales (a state north of Victoria) and said thanks to them. I told my 3 (nearly 4) year old nephew, Hayden, and he said he wanted to say thank you as well. How cute is that? So off he went, said thank you to them as well as shaking their hands. Then one of the men took of his NSW Fire Service cap and gave it to Hayden. Hayden was very impressed with his special hat.
I almost felt like crying. I mean, here they were to help up and they gave Hayden a cap to thank him for being so kind.
The true Aussie spirit it alive and kicking and I'm so proud at the moment to call myself an Australian. ;D
