The next film in our spotlight is one of the most treasured of all the animated classics. It concerns a pair of dogs, Lady and Tramp. Lady is a gift from Jim Dear to his wife, Darling. She is very happy and somewhat spoiled in her new home. But, everything changes when Darling is going to have a baby. Suddenly, Lady is not getting as much attention as she used to. Determined to understand what this "baby" is, Lady finds Darling singing the baby to sleep, and falls in love with him. When Jim Dear and Darling go on a vacation, Lady feels it is her responsibility to take care of the baby with Aunt Sarah. Unfortunately, Aunt Sarah feels Lady is a threat to the child, and places a muzzle on her. Lady escapes into the alley where her new friend Tramp rescues her from some fierce street dogs. He takes her to the zoo where a beaver removes the muzzle to he can use it to move his log to the stream. Tramp takes Lady to Tony's restaurant where they share a romantic meal over spaghetti. The next morning, Lady is caught by the dogcatcher and taken to the pound, where she learns that she is not the only girl in Tramp's life. Once she returns home, Lady is chained to her doghouse. Tramp tries to apologize, but she will not speak to him. When a rat enters the baby's room, Tramp kills the rat, but is caught by Aunt Sarah, who thinks he was attacking the baby. When Jim Dear and Darling return home, they find the rat. But it's too late. Tramp has already been taken to the pound, where he will be destroyed. Lady's friend's Jock and Trusty track down the dogcatcher before they arrive at the pound. Sadly, Trusty has been involved in an accident with the dogcatcher's wagon. The next scene takes place at Christmas, where we see Jock and Trusty approaching Lady's house. Tramp has been adopted into the family, which has four new puppies. The film closes in the same manner that it opened.
