Not sure if this is the right place, so feel free to move and if you feel that it just doesn't fit right anyplace, feel free to close. Having played all three of the games, i am very thrilled to hear of a Prince of Persia movie coming out ;D but what Really stumped me is that it's being made by Disney.. For those who have played the first game(T for Teen), you will notice that it's got a bit of blood. Second and Third Games(M for Mature) It's got even more blood and gore(I'll just say enamies being sliced in half or losing a head), two female characters that i dare not post pictures of or describe what they look like in fear of getting ban and a boss battle with a large creature that's, well.. Jawless. What im saying is this: Isn't it kinda unusual for Disney to make a movie based on a game that's rated T for Teen and the other two being rated M for Mature for reasons stated above? Even a T rated game sounded unusual! Im sure Disney will have some way to tone down some of the stuff in these games, but really. What next? Drakengard? Castlevania? Sure i've heard that a few scenes from the Black Cauldron were deleted because they didn't want the movie to get a PG-13 or R Rating, but i highly doubt those scenes are that bad compared to the things in the second and third Prince of Persia Games! Ah well. whatever the case may be, im still thrilled to hear of a PoP movie coming out, Disney or Not!

Well, it's important to note that Disney has been involved in some more mature themes in the past, as far as violence is concerned. Most of these have been produced under the Touchstone/Mirimax label. This would be one of the first to have the actual Disney label. I think they will have to tone it down a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a more violent film from Disney. Pirates pushed the envelope a bit. This will push it even further, I'm sure.

I bet Disney will tone it down from the level of mature. Hopefully it will still make fans of the games happy. Has this movie been rated yet?
On an unrelated (yet still somewhat relevant to the topic of Disney and violence) note, I sort of wonder if Disney will release the Miyazaki film Princess Mononoke under the Disney label if and when it is re-relased to DVD? When it was first released over a decade ago, it was released under the Mirimax label. Since then, Miyazaki has become more and more popular with American audiences and (I think) every film since then has been released under the Disney label. It's quite a bit more violent than any of Miyazaki's other films.
At any rate, does Mirimax even exist anymore?

Yep, the movie's been rated PG-13.
Truth be told, I'm not expecting this to be more violent than "Pirates." Especially AWE. But, you never know for sure.
As for "Princess Mononoke," wasn't that film only rated PG-13 for the decapitation shot?

There were other scenes of violence in Princess Mononoke. I'm not sure what would or wouldn't qualify for a PG-13 rating. Ashitaka was shot through the chest by one of the women in Irontown, there were two people who were decapitated, one man had his arms shot off, there were depictions of bombs going off and people dying in war, as well as some mild language. (Though the language as far as I can remember really wasn't much above PG)
Like I said, I can't really say if most of the stuff I listed would give the film a PG-13 rating, but it does have a somewhat darker tone than other Miyazaki films.
