The next film in our spotlight is Walt Disney's adaptation of Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". In the film, rumors of a sea monster prevents sailors and fisherman from leaving port. Professor Aronnax wants to get to Singapore to continue his fact-finding expedition. An American ship captain offers to take the professor to Singapore after they comb the ocean to disprove the existence of this sea monster. When the ship is attacked, Professor Aronnax and his assistant Conseil is tossed overboard along with harpoonist Ned Land. They end up aboard the Nautilus captained by a man named Nemo. They learn about Nemo's life and his hatred of the human race. After a series of adventures with cannibals and a giant squid, Nemo must destroy his life's work to prevent his secrets from being discovered. The Professor, his assistant, and Ned Land escape, leaving Nemo's secrets to die with him.
