"Can Do Machine Works / Mechanical Wonders / Live Steam Engines / Magical Illusions / Cameras / Roger Broggie, Shopmaster / Advisor to the Magic Makers"- Roger Broggie's Disneyland window on Main Street USA
Born: October 22, 1908 Hired: 1939
Often referred to as the "Father of Imagineering", Roger E. Broggie is the next Disney Legend in our spotlight. He was hired as a machinist in 1939. He helped install the multiplane camera and studied special processes under Ub Iwerks. He worked on the special effects in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Along with Walt Disney and a number of Disney animators, Broggie was a railroad enthusiast. He set up the railroad in Walt Disney's backyard. He was responsible for the Omnimover ride system at Disneyland, and developed the Monorail. He also worked on the very first human Audio Animatronics figure of the song and dance man, as well as Abraham Lincoln. One of the four locomotive at Walt Disney World is named the Roger E. Broggie.
It is my great pleasure to introduce you to Roger E. Broggie.
