Heather and I just got back from seeing Disney's version of Charles Dickens' classic novel. Robert Zemeckis, who directed "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", does a masterful job in this awesome version of "A Christmas Carol".
What impressed me most was how closely the film matched the book. This is one of the few versions that is almost word for word and scene by scene matched with the story. For those that love the book and have read the story, the ending of Stave I, which is almost always left out of the story, actually appears as Dickens wrote it. They even included Ignorance and Want in Stave III.
Another impressive thing about this film is that Disney did not "dumb it down" for the kids. In fact, it is probably not wise to take small children at all. There are some scenes which WILL be too scary for young children. This is in NO way a "kiddie film". The film does not change the message one bit! The message is still as great as it ever was! Let your spirit go forth in life helping others. Love your fellow man, and keep Christmas in your heart all the year!
"And so, as Tiny Tim observed...God bless us, everyone!"

I love "A Christmas carol." I really like the story. Especially now, Christmas day is getting near. I really can feel it.
