"Keep moving and have fun. Trust me, it's worth it."
Ward Kimball was born on March 4, 1914. In 1934, he joined the Disney Studios as an animator. He animated many classic characters for Disney, including: Jiminy Cricket, Faline, Jaq, Gus, and Lucifer, Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter, and the Darling children. Of course, he didn't stop there.
When Walt began working on Disneyland, he asked Ward Kimball to produce some of the Tomorrowland programs for the television series. Kimball's "Man in Space" program captured the attention of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who requested that the film be shown to officials at the Pentagon for educational purposes.
During his career, Ward Kimball won Academy Awards for his work on "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" and "It's Tough to be a Bird". But, he did have several hobbies. Along with Walt Disney, Ward Kimball was a train enthusiast. Fellow animator and Disney Legend Ollie Johnston also shared this love of trains. Kimball was also a musician. He founded the Firehouse Five Plus Two, which was a band comprised of studio animators. Kimball played the trombone in the group.
It's my pleasure to present our next Disney Legend--Ward Kimball!

All in all, his characters all had a distinct look to them and his animation style was quite unique. I really loved his work with "Toot, Whistle, Pluck, and Boom", as well as his work with characters like Jiminy, Lucifer (I loved the scene where Lucifer flails his arms while looking for Gus under the teacups! Pure genius!), and The Cheshire Cat.

I love it when Lucifer gets so excited, too! I think I laugh out loud every time!

It's one of those moments I had completely forgotten about until I watched it again a few years ago (After getting the Platinum release DVD) but when I saw it, I couldn't help but to laugh.
