On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney opened the gates of his greatest dream. After an entire year of hearing about this magic kingdom, guests finally got a chance to see this place. Hosted by Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, Ronald Reagan, and Walt Disney, the opening day festivities featured the Mouseketeers, Fess Parker as Davy Crockett, Guy Williams as Zorro, Mickey Mouse, and many other guests, which came to hear Walt Disney say those famous words, "To all who come to this happy place, WELCOME!" But, contrary to popular belief, it did not all start with a mouse. According to Walt, "It all started with a daddy with two daughters wondering where he could take them where he could have a little fun, too."
