On May 12, 1932, audiences at "Mickey's Revue" heard a sound which would launch a career. As one member of Mickey's audience got particularly tickled, his jovial sounds echoed through the theater. Many described the noise as sounding something like a "hyuck". As luck would have it, Dippy Dawg was hired and his name changed to Goofy.
Today, after many careers and many more "How To" videos, Goofy remains a comedic genius. He does all of his own stunts. He still has that same remarkable laugh. He's a bit clumsy, but he sure can "cut a rug" as the saying goes. And nobody matches his skill in horseshoes. He's the hardest working Disney character and Father of the Year. He loves to sing, but most of his serenades are thoughts of filling his stomach. He's played a musketeer and was cast as Jacob Marley in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". He serves as Head Waiter of "The House of Mouse" and even hosted the show once. He has done it all!
Happy birthday Goofy. After doing so much, the world just might find that it does owe you a living after all.

I gotta love Goofy. I think most everyone has their days when they can relate to him. And he's just such a fun character, who has only seemed to improve with time. He's always been a great character, but seeing him in more recent years in a father role allows us to see a different side of his character.
Happy birthday, Goofy!
