In an effort to spark discussion, I thought I'd start a countdown of Disney films. This goes back to the Disney Movie Appreciation threads on DisneySites. And what better place to start than "the one that started it all"?
Disney's first animated feature film goes back to the stories of the Brothers Grimm. Disney uses the combined talents of animators, voice artists, and musicians to accomplish the task of telling the story of the young girl that is so beautiful her vain stepmother tries to kill her. This prompts her to hide in the woods. She finds the cottage of the seven dwarfs, and agrees to keep house if they let her stay. But, the stepmother finds her and disguises herself as a peddler woman selling apples. She offers Snow White a poisoned apple, convincing the trusting girl that it's a magic wishing apple. The dwarfs chase the stepmother to her doom, but it's too late for the young princess. The dwarfs place her in a glass coffin. The prince, who has been searching for her hears of the girl in the glass coffin and seeks her out. When he finds her, he kisses her, which breaks the power of the Sleeping Death. He takes Snow White to his castle where they both "live happily ever after".
Animators: Frank Thomas, Dick Lundy, Art Babbitt, Eric Larson, Milt Kahl, Robert Stokes, James Algar, Al Eugster, Cy Young, Joshua Meador, Ugo D'orsi, George Rowley, Les Clark, Fred Spencer, Bill Roberts, Bernard, Garbutt, Grim Natwick, Jack Campbell, Marvin Woodward, James Culhane, Stan Quackenbush, Ward Kimball, Wolfgang Reitherman, and Robert Martsch
Songs: Written by Frank Churchill, Larry Morey, Paul J. Smith, and Leigh Harline
"I'm Wishing", "One Song", "With a Smile and a Song", "Whistle While You Work", "Heigh-Ho", "Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum", "Dwarf's Yodel Song", and "Someday My Prince Will Come"
Voice Cast:

Known as "Disney's folly", many thought the film would ruin Walt Disney. Instead, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" would lead to everything from "Pinocchio" to "Up". It would pave the way for Disneyland and the other Disney parks. Everything Disney is today is because of this fantastic film.
