Alright, for those who don't know, "Aaron Stone" is the first original series for Disney XD. It's about a teenage boy named Charlie who is a video gamer, and called in to lead a double life as the character (avatar as they call it) he created, Aaron Stone, to stop all of the villains in the game, who are real.
Disney Channel showed the first half of the premier episode tonight, and the commercials had me interested, so I decided to check it out. I have to say, I'm officially hooked. Heck, I rushed online to see the second part of the episode. It's like the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" (None of those spin off "Over Drive", "Jungle Fury", etc. Power Rangers) meets "The Famous Jett Jackson". It doesn't rely on forced comedy like most of the Disney Channel shows, and there's no laugh track. Just straight up, edge of your seat action. There is a bit of humor, but it doesn't heavily rely on it, which is a nice change. Aside from the video game/ sci- fi feel to it, the show seems pretty down to earth. Like I can actually buy that Charlie is a real teenage boy, who just happens to save the world. The script is not insanely over the top with wacky dialogue or situations. (I know, the situation in the over all storyline is over the top, but it comes off naturally.)
I have to say, if every episode is as good as the pilot, I may call up the cable company and see if I can just get rid of Disney Channel and get Disney XD. This show is by far a thousand times better than anything DC has to offer right now, especially considering their latest show "Sonny With a Chance".
So, anyone else get a chance to see it? What are your responses?
If you would like to see the pilot episode "Hero Rising" Parts 1 and 2, go to www.disneyxd.com to check them out. It was worth it.
