Like the flailing American economy, ¡°Confessions of a Shopaholic¡± wants to eat its cake ¡ª or, rather, cling to its consumer-based culture ¡ª and have its spiritual redemption too. (Talk about timing!) Based on a pair of popular novels by the British author Madeleine Wickham, writing under the lucrative pen name Sophie Kinsella, the story tracks the credit card ups and downs of an extreme shopper, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher), who just can¡¯t say no to every bright bauble and designer doodad she sees. For her, buying is something of a blood sport as well as a panacea for whatever ¡ª the movie is a bit bashful about saying what ¡ª ails her. movies.nytimes.com/2009/02/13/movies/13conf.html

I actually kinda want to see this movie. It doesn't look half-bad.

I think I just have something against these chick flicks. Probably because I am not a shoe obsessed woman and that seems to be what they are always about.
Though I bet it will do decent business this Valentines weekend.
