1898: C. S. Lewis, author of "The Chronicles of Narnia", is born.

1926: Disney releases "Alice's Spanish Guitar".
1929: Laurie Main, voice of Dr. Dawson and the narrator of several of the "Winnie the Pooh" films, is born.
1934: The first Disney balloons appear in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
1937: Leopold Stokowski suggests in a letter that Walt create a new character for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", but Walt overrides him and keeps Mickey Mouse in the role.
1948: "So Dear To My Heart" is released in Chicago.
1955: It's Guest Star Day on "The Mickey Mouse Club".
1964: Part 2 of "Toby Tyler" airs on "The Wonderful World of Color".
1970: "Hang Your Hat On The Wind" airs on "The Wonderful World of Disney".
1971: Walt Disney World first hosts The Walt Disney World Open. First prize is $150,000.
1972: Carl W. Stalling, who wrote the music for "Plane Crazy" and "The Gallopin' Gaucho" starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, passes away.
1987: Part 1 of "Student Exchange" airs on "The Disney Sunday Movie".
2001: This is the first night of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
2002: Edward James Olmos appears for the first night of this season's Candlelight Processional at EPCOT.
2004: "The Incredibles" has broken box office records for a Disney film opening.
2005: Disney announces a fourth season for "Kim Possible".
2006: The High School Musical Concert Tour begins in San Diego, California. Mickey Mouse lights the studio tree at the Disney Studio's "Light Up the Season" event.
2007: Broadway performances begin for the first time after the stagehand strike. This includes "Mary Poppins", "The Lion King", and Disney's new musical "The Little Mermaid", which will have its official opening in January 2008. Disney's "The Lion King" celebrates 10 years on the stage. The celebration had been delayed by the strike.

1835: Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain, is born. His work inspired Disney's Tom Sawyer Island. The Mark Twain Steamboat runs in Disneyland, and Mark Twain hosts The American Adventure in EPCOT along with Benjamin Franklin.
1918: Walt Disney arrives in France to assist in the war as a Red Cross Volunteer.
1927: Robert Guillaume, the voice of Rafiki, is born.
1935: "Cook o' the Walk" is released.
1955: It's Anything Can Happen Day on "The Mickey Mouse Club". Walt Disney hosts "The Story of the Animated Drawing" on "Disneyland".
1966: Walt Disney collapses and is rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital.
1978: Nina Booth, member of "The All New Mickey Mouse Club", is born.
1979: Disney Legend Dick Huemer passes away. His long list of Disney credits include "The Reluctant Dragon", "Alice In Wonderland", and Donald Duck's first appearance in "The Wise Little Hen". He was an animator, comic strip artist, writer, and director.
1986: "Sunday Drive" airs on "The Wonderful World of Disney".
1997: "New Herbie The Love Bug" airs on "The Wonderful World of Disney".
2003: Roy E. Disney submits his resignation to Disney Chairman Michael Eisner.

1922: Walt Disney releases two Laugh-O-Gram films. The first film released is the animated film "Cinderella". The second film, "Tommy Tuckers Tooth", will earn Walt the money necessary to begin his work on the Alice comedies.
1924: Wally Cox, who starred in "The Boatniks" and "The Barefoot Executive", is born.
1937: A sneak preview of Walt Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is shown to a group of theater-goers in Pomona, California.
1953: Tom Hulce, the voice of Quasimodo, is born.
1955: It's Guest Star Day on "The Mickey Mouse Club".

1976: "Christmas in Disneyland" airs with guest stars Sandy Duncan, Art Carney, and Glen Campbell.

1984: "Robin Hood" is released on VHS under the new name "Walt Disney Classics".
1992: "Tinker Bell's Treasures" opens in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World.
1997: "The Miami Herald" prints an article about one fan's fight to save Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
2002: "Lizzie McGuire" airs "Xtreme Xmas" with special guest star Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.

1998: During the Investiture Ceremony for the Papal Order of St. Gregory the Great, Roy O. Disney and Bob Hope are honored because of their contributions to their faith and to various charities.
2002: This year's Disney Marathon Health and Fitness Expo kicks off at Wide World of Sports.
2003: Disney World's Polynesian Revue gives its last performance. It will be replaces by The Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show.
2004: In Toronto, "The Lion King" gives its final performance. Also, Lisa Brescia steps into the role of Amneris in Disney's "Aida" on Broadway.
2005: At the Orange Bowl Championship Football Game in Miami, Florida, Mickey Mouse surprises 72,000 football fans with a free ticket to any Disney theme park around the world as part of Disneyland's 50th birthday bash. At Walt Disney World, Wonders of Life becomes a seasonal attraction, and closes during less crowded times.

1931: Al Taliaferro is hired as a studio animator. He will work on the Donald Duck comic strips.
1932: The Silly Symphony "The Bird Store" is released.
1935: The Silly Symphony "The Tortoise and the Hare" is released.
1955: "Disneyland" shows Part 1 of "Treasure Island".

2003: Cinderella's Gala Feast welcomes its first guests.
2004: "Finding Nemo", "Brother Bear", "The Jungle Book 2", "101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure", "Piglet's Big Movie", and "Stitch! The Movie" are all nominated for Annie Awards.
