Hi everyone. I've been getting back in touch with my "Disney Side" recently, and so I went back to DisneySites only to discover it was gone! But I saw the link to here, and decided to join. Anyone remember me? I was around for probably the first half of DS's reign. I love Brer Rabbit. Anyways, I have to ask if no one minds explaining... What happened to DS?

Courtney!!! It's so good to see you again! Aaron decided to close DS, because it just didn't mean enough to him anymore to keep paying for it.

Hey, Jen! It's good to see you again, too. Thanks for the explanation; I had suspected as much, but good to have it confirmed. At least there's still this place to keep it going. And meggy, I remember you too! Yay for familiarity.

Well, let's see... I graduated from high school a few years ago (man I feel old now ), got my first job working as a ride operator at SeaWorld San Diego. Left that job to go do the Disney College Program out in Orlando, which was an amazing experience. Not all of it happy, but still worth it. After that, ended up moving to Portland, OR where I think I began dealing with Real World vs. Childhood Fantasy issues, and grew pretty practical/cynical. Got my heat broken, etc., the usual bull. Then I saw Wall-E, and it completely changed me. Ever since then I've gotten I've been getting back to my love of Disney and imagination. Oh, and I'm in college, too.

When did you do the CP experience? I did it in Fall of 06' and did my second one this year in Jan- August. (I was seasonal in between.)

Hi, dacey! I did mine the year before yours, Fall of '05. I've thought about going back; maybe the term after I graduate. Though I might do it in CA this time. What did you work? I was QSF&B at the ABC Commissary in (the former) MGM Studios, though I often worked at other locations around the park. My favorites were the Fantasia stand and the coffee shop -- Which I'm unfortunately drawing a blank on the name!

I know exactly where you're talking about. (I probably ran into you, as I was visiting a few times then.) Anyways, I did (still do) Entertainment. I've been pretty happy in there.
I would love to do the program in CA, but it's harder to get into Entertainment out there.

Wow, that would have been crazy if we had ran into each other when I was there! I hope I was in a good mood that day. LOL What exactly do you do in Entertainment? I wish I could have gotten to do that, or be a ride operator. If I do it in CA, I think I want to be in operations. I would actually really love to go back to Orlando and do it there, but California is my home and it would be a better step for me I think.

LOL! I've yet to run into a CM, who hasn't been upbeat... alright, maybe a handful, but I'm pretty sure you weren't one of them. I hang out with a certain puppy, who is best pals with the boss. I don't blame ya one bit for wanting to do it in California. That's how I am about Orlando. It's too much like home to me to consider another place.

Ha, good, I hope so. Actually, dealing with the guests was my favorite part of the job. It was so much fun trying to help make their trip magical, and going out of my way to do so. I think I was rarely unhappy around them. Aww, lucky you, getting to hang out with that certain puppy! That must be a lot of fun. Yeah, I completely understand that feeling. I mean, I loved living in Orlando, and it helped that it's pretty similar to California there, but yeah. I practically grew up at Disneyland. Not only that, but I want to move back there permantly, and maybe go to graduate school in LA. So it seems like the natural choice to me.

It is! I love him to death! He's amazing!
Which school in LA are you looking at? Because once I graduate here in GA, I'm looking to move out to LA/ Burnbank for work as a screenwriter.

Well... I don't really know yet. I know Cal State Northridge has a Screenwriting program which, ironically enough, is what I also would love to do. A part of me has also always wanted to go to Cal Arts, but I have no idea what I'd study there. I draw every once in a while, but no where near enough to do Character Animation. Maybe graphic design. But anyways, it's more or less a bridge I'll cross when I come to it.
That's awesome you want to go into screenwriting as well. What kind? Movies, tv shows? Original, or for someone else? I know my dream job would be to write for Pixar, but that's a hard one.
