the more I look at it the more he looks like Ed. Scissorhands and Willy Wonka's love child  Well, that's not too farfetched. I always thought that Depp's version of Sweeney Todd was Edward Scissorhands and Jack Sparrow's love child. heheh.

I've not seen Sweeny Todd... but I don't think I got a Jack Sparrow vibe from him other than the accent he used...

Actually, Sweeney Todd looks like a cross between Ichabod and Edward Scissorhands and sounds like Jack Sparrow. I forgot all about Ichabod.

When did Martin Short play the Mad Hatter?
Depp will pull this off. Even though that image of him is really creepy, he'll be able to make it work in the actual movie.

it was an NBC made for TV movie... Whoopi Goldberg played the Cheshire Cat... IIRC it was the same group that did the miniseries of Merlin staring Sam Neil (and I want to say Liam Neeson was in it too, but I could be wrong)..
Martin Short totally creeped me out in that version of AiW... almost as freaky as that movie Clifford.

Thanks. I think that I remember that version being shown on televison, come to think of it. Seems to me that we thought about watching it at my house, but ultimately decided to skip it.

it stayed pretty true to the book, I thought... so it was very dark, twisted, and... yeah... drug induced lol

OMG, I remember that movie! I recall not being able to watch it thoroughly because I was too freaked out. That is very rare for me. As for Dep's Hatter, I think it looks like an interesting interpretation. It's very theatrical-looking, which I like. And, personally, the Hatter doesn't remind me of any of Johnny's other characters. I could completely imagine the Hatter making a cameo in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, though, hehe. I don't know why, but that is ingrained in my head.

I've been staring at this picture for almost a week now. Still not sure what to think of it, besides the fact that it's still a Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp, therefore, I will probably love it. I like the costume, the makeup though.... I want to see an actual picture. And yeah. my first thought was this was Willy Wonka's and Sweeney Todd's child.
